Excited to see Neil Gaiman’s Coraline to come to life on the big screen! The stop motion effects look amazing. Wired goes into some of the painstaking detail to make the movie (including the pictured mouse circus, which involved over 500 mice, each with 9 parts and took four months to film!)

Even though computers are the big thing these days, I am pretty sick of CG-animated kids’ films. I am still a fan of hand-painted cells, puppets and stop-motion cinema. The only thing about Coraline is that I wish the trailer would stop attaching the Nightmare Before Christmas name on it – if only to prevent massive over-merchandising at Hot Topic…
